The Alenik family’s Henderson restaurant combines house-made pasta with art by Ann Alenik.
From dishwasher to executive chef
Edwin Martinez, who grew up in a small mountain town in El Salvador, started at the Pasta Shop more than 17 years ago washing dishes. Founder David Alenik noticed how hard he worked and began teaching him Italian cooking and fresh pasta making. Today Chef Eddie runs the kitchen, cooking David's recipes the way David taught him.
A family restaurant with its own gallery
David and Ann Alenik met at Johnson & Wales culinary school, worked together at the Boca Raton Club in Florida and settled in Las Vegas in 1981. David had been a personal chef to Frank Sinatra and Steve Wynn, and he opened the Pasta Shop in 1989. After he died unexpectedly in 2016, Ann and their three children, Trent, Bianca and Clayton, kept it going, and today the family continues both the restaurant and its wholesale pasta business, which supplies restaurants on the Strip.
Ann designed the dining room, and every piece of art on the walls is hers and available to buy. Her art has been featured on HGTV, and her contemporary metalwork has earned recognition. General manager Gaby Mangona has been with the restaurant for 11 years.
