The Wedge Ceramics Studio: Dickerson Road ceramics classes and shared studio.
A beginner taking a first wheel lesson and an experienced potter needing studio access can both find a place at The Wedge. Sutter and Samantha Stremmel established the Reno ceramics studio in 2011, building a shared workspace on Dickerson Road.
Learning at the wheel
The studio offers beginner and refresher wheel classes in small groups. Its published class information includes clay and the materials needed for the session, with instruction aimed at helping participants work through the process rather than simply use a wheel without guidance.
Private lessons provide another format, including options for children. Group parties and workshops expand the teaching side, while guest-artist sessions introduce additional approaches to the craft.
A working studio between classes
The Wedge occupies a roughly 5,000-square-foot warehouse space. Memberships give independent ceramic artists access to a working environment with equipment, glazes, firing and recycled clay. That shared infrastructure is a substantial part of the business, separate from its scheduled lessons.
- Wheel classes for beginners and returning students.
- Private instruction and group events.
- Studio memberships for ongoing ceramic work.
- A gallery featuring local ceramics.
The gallery connects the making side of the studio with finished pieces. Visitors can encounter ceramics as objects to view or buy, while students and members use the same business as a place to develop their own work.
Independent coverage in ceramics publishing and local Reno reporting identifies the Stremmels and the studio's place on Dickerson Road. The current address is 2095 Dickerson, distinct from neighboring businesses. Class registration and membership inquiries go directly through The Wedge, where the available format, age suitability and studio access can be matched to a person's experience.
