Art Classes for Kids

A drawing one week and a sculpture another: Art Classes for Kids organizes learning around making things. Kim Bavington's Las Vegas business began in 1990 and continues to offer instruction through group classes, private lessons, art parties and camps.

The program's current class information identifies Summerlin and downtown Las Vegas as teaching areas. Drawing, painting and sculpting are core subjects, with digital illustration also listed among the group-class options.

A project with a technique behind it

Grace in the Desert, one of the community venues listing the program, describes project-based classes led by Bavington and her instructors. Children work with different media while learning technique and art history, completing a project in each class.

That combination makes the finished object part of a larger lesson. A drawing or clay piece provides something concrete to work toward, while the instruction introduces materials, methods and artists that can inform the child's next project.

Beyond the classroom

Art Classes for Kids also publishes online lessons. Its video collection includes clay character sculptures and a figurative sculpture inspired by Niki de Saint Phalle. The at-home side extends the program to families who want to follow a project outside an in-person class.

• Group instruction in traditional art media and digital illustration.
• Private lessons, parties and camps.
• Online tutorials and an art-at-home shop.

The business's long Las Vegas history is documented on its own site, while the community venue listing independently confirms Bavington's teaching role and the local program. Families can use the current registration pages to check the age group, location and format of a specific offering; these vary across classes and camps rather than belonging to one permanent drop-in schedule.
