Sol-Up: Frank Rieger’s Solar Operation in Spring Valley

German engineer Frank Rieger ran a software company in Germany for two decades before walking away to do something he found more meaningful. Rieger arrived in the United States in 2009, picked Las Vegas because it sits in one of the sunniest year-round zones in the country, and founded Sol-Up the same year. Sol-Up has since installed more than fifteen thousand rooftop systems across Nevada and operates a Solar University training campus at its Dean Martin headquarters in Spring Valley, where the company trains its own installers rather than relying on rotating crews from outside subcontractors.

Sol-Up runs out of two valley locations — the headquarters at 4305 Dean Martin Drive in Spring Valley and a Henderson office at 10 Via Brianza — and handles residential rooftop solar, battery storage, and commercial installations. In February 2026, Sol-Up made local news by gifting its very first 2009 customer a brand-new rooftop system; Nevada Business Magazine covered it as a seventeen-year customer-loyalty bookend, the kind of gesture that tracks with Rieger’s long-arc orientation toward the trade.

Las Vegas now has one of the highest residential rooftop-solar adoption rates in the country, and Sol-Up has been part of that arc from the very beginning of the modern Nevada solar wave. The Dean Martin Drive headquarters sits at the south end of Spring Valley near the Strip, with the Henderson satellite serving the southeast valley. Sol-Up’s in-house Solar University training program is unusual in a trade where most installers learn on the job from rotating crews; that internal investment shows up in installation quality and warranty handling across the Las Vegas Valley.
