Sky Combat Ace: Tex Coe’s Aerobatic Flight Operation

Richard “Tex” Coe separated from the United States Air Force in 2008 after a career flying F-16s and could not bear giving up high-performance aircraft. Coe assembled a team of fighter-pilot friends and founded Sky Combat Ace in early 2011, starting with two Extra 330LC aircraft — the world’s most advanced FAA-certified aerobatic airplane — out of the North Las Vegas Airport. Sky Combat Ace offers aerial dogfighting and aerobatic flight experiences to civilians and has expanded its Extra 330 fleet over the years.

The Sky Combat Ace fleet operates out of 2634 Airport Drive at the North Las Vegas Airport. Each flight pairs a civilian passenger with a fighter-pilot instructor in a tandem aerobatic aircraft for a guided dogfight or aerobatic experience over the desert north of the city. The model gives non-pilots access to high-G aerobatic flight under fighter-pilot supervision, an experience otherwise available only inside military training programs.
