An optician who picks frames for faces

Nancy Edwards has been fitting eyeglasses since 1979, when she started with Benson Optical. She became licensed and went on to manage that company's Las Vegas and Carson City area before opening Personal Eyes Opticians in 1989. More than 35 years later she still runs it herself from her shop on West Lake Mead Boulevard in the Summerlin area, and federal provider records list her as the owner and a licensed optician.

The shop's approach is simple. You come in, Nancy considers your face shape, your hair and your personality, and she helps you choose a frame that suits you, then fits it and fills the prescription with current lens designs and coatings. Reviews the shop quotes say the same thing in different words: customers often leave in a frame they would not have picked for themselves, and several say she carries lines they have not found anywhere else in town.

The mix runs from affordable fashion frames to high-end designer eyewear, including independent makers from France, Belgium and Japan alongside Italian fashion houses. Brands shown on the shop's site include:

Good to know

Personal Eyes accepts most major vision insurance, including EyeMed Vision Care, and takes FSA and HSA payments. If regular hours don't work for you, appointments outside them are available by request. Messages sent through the website get an answer within one or two business days, the shop says.
